2006 SIGMOD Contributions Award
Tamer Özsu
Tamer Özsu is the recipient of the 2006 SIGMOD Contributions Award
for long-standing dedicated service to the database research community,
including leadership roles in the SIGMOD and VLDB organizations, and
innovations in the publication process.
Tamer Özsu is recognized with the SIGMOD Contributions Award for his
long-standing dedicated service to the database research community,
including leadership roles in the SIGMOD and VLDB organizations, and
innovations in the publication process. His contributions include his
dedicated and outstanding service as ACM SIGMOD President (2001-2005),
his active role in improving database publication practices and
attempting to address the current "publication crisis," and his
numerous activities within the database community including service as VLDB
Journal Editor-in-Chief (1997-2005), as a VLDB Endowment trustee
(1996-2002), and as VLDB Program Chair (2004). Tamer's efforts have
benefited everyone in the database research community.
