The SIGMOD Industrial Advisory Board has been recently created. The mission of this board will be to provide policy recommendations on how SIGMOD can better serve the industrial community and how that community can better serve the SIGMOD membership. Among the topics the board will address are the following:

• How can SIGMOD help vendors and users of database technology promote their technical activities at the conference and through SIGMOD publications?
• How can SIGMOD help vendors and users of database technology recruit employees at the SIGMOD conference?
• How to structure donations to the conference so that companies know what they are getting, so that the conference can budget these amounts ahead of time, and so that we can increase our set of involved companies.
• How to set up policies on company-specific activities at the conference.
• How to foster involvement of companies with the DiSC and TechTalks CDRom publications of SIGMOD.
• How to help in connecting companies and students for summer internships.
