Abstract

When the admissible operations on a database are specified using transactional schemas, certain properties of such schemas are desirable. Unfortunately, most of these properties are undecidable. Such properties are systematically examined in this paper. The results concern restrictions on transactions and on properties, which imply decidability. Some of the results are surprising and provide new insight into the nature of relational transactions.
