Abstract

A preliminary version of this paper briefly describes a simple database query system for RDBMSs based on the concept of supercombinators borrowed from the field of functional languages implementation. Basic supercombinators correspond to SQL procedures generating data sets. Such system provides another higher level of abstraction where all details of query body are hidden from end-users. Implemented as a middleware for relational databases (currently for IBM DB2 SQL server), such system allows for creation of frond-end query tools using syntactically simple constructions for specifying rather complex data-retrieval criteria.
