Information Mining with the IBM Intelligent Miner Family
This paper describes the concepts of information mining. Information
mining refers to the process of extracting previously unknown, comprehensible,
and actionable information from any source - including transactions, documents,
e-mail, web pages, and others -- and using it to make crucial business
decisions.

Text Mining Technology
This paper describes IBM's Intelligent Miner for Text. Unlike the tabular
information typically stored in databases today, documents have only limited
internal structure, if any. Furthermore, the important information they
contain is not explicit but is implicit: buried in the text. Hence the
"mining" metaphor - the computer rediscovers information that was encoded
in the text by its author.

The DB2 Family -- An Analysis of the Business Benefits Available
This paper provides both background and detailed information intended
to assist decision-makers in establishing an information management strategy.
It provides an analysis of the types of technology required to meet evolving
business needs and the features of DB2 (and companion products) which deliver
the technology. It also examines the benefits available through the implementation
of the DB2 product set, which provides an end-to-end information management
capability.

Meeting Your Scalability Needs with IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise
- Extended Edition for Windows NT
DB2 Universal Database Enterprise - Extended Edition (DB2 UDB EEE) was
designed to support the very large databases that Business Intelligence
applications often require. DB2UDB EEE incorporates a highly scalable shared-nothing
software architecture, which allows it to exploit: symmetric multiprocessor
(SMP) systems; clusters of SMP systems; massively parallel processor (MPP)
systems. This paper provides an overview of the DB2 UDB EEE product as
it relates to the Windows NT environment.

Celebrating IBM Data Management
On the 15th anniversary of DB2 for OS/390 and MVS, 30th anniversary
of IMS, and 10th anniversary of IDUG, the IBM data management group has
announced significant enhancements to its data solutions, especially in
its database management systems (DBMS) and business intelligence (BI) offerings,
and has garnered an impressive array of awards, rankings and comments across
the industry. This paper reviews these achievements and discusses how the
IBM DB2 family, IMS and
BI solutions offer capabilities needed for enterprise level support
today and provide a solid foundation for moving successfully to the year
2000 and beyond.

Breaking the Scalability Barrier on Windows NT
Most successful businesses already have efficient operational systems
that generate and manage vast quantities of product, customer and market
data that comes from point-of-sale, reservations, customer service, and
technical support systems. For most companies, however, this information
is stored away -- it is never exploited for historical or trend analysis.
This paper can help you leverage your company's information to provide
your decision makers with the knowledge that will
give them a competitive edge.

IBM's Data Mining Technology
Competitive business pressures and a desire to leverage existing information
technology investments have led many firms to explore the benefits of datamining
technology. This technology is designed to help businesses discover hidden
patterns in their data -- patterns that can help them understand the purchasing
behavior of their key customers, detect likely credit card or insurance
claim fraud, predict probable changes in financial markets, etc. This paper
explores data mining, its potential benefits to users, the data mining
process, and IBM's technology in this area. Several business examples are
provided to further understanding.

IBM'S DB2 Spatial Extender : Managing Geo-spatial Information with
the DBMS
IBM has focused research efforts on creating an extensible data-management
infrastructure for more than a decade. The results of these efforts have
become a major component of IBM's DB2 Universal Database (UDB), the company's
flagship object-relational database management system (ORDBMS), and DB2
DataJoiner, IBM's ORDBMS for heterogeneous data access. DB2 Spatial Extender
integrates GIS functionality into the DB2 ORDBMS
