The authors present an algorithm
called ripple joins that give increasingly accurate predictions
of the aggregate result as the join progresses.
In a data visualization setting this means that the
result appears to the user as an answer with a confidence
interval.
My conclusion: ripple joins will start appearing in systems.
The Aqua approach from Lucent can be used right now.
